Interim Chief Scientific Officer, ATCC

Dr. Boyle is an independent bioengineering expert with more than 20 years of experience applying synthetic biology across pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and industrial biotechnology. He was an early employee and later Chief Scientific Officer at Ginkgo Bioworks, where he helped develop the company’s core microbial engineering platform. Patrick serves on the National Academies’ Board of Life Sciences and was a fellow in the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security’s Emerging Leaders in Biosecurity Program. He earned a PhD in Systems Biology from Harvard Medical School and an SB in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
